Steger Wilderness Center | Lay of the Land

Will led the Dining Wild Studio on an incredible site tour that covered the Center’s history, design, ecology, geology, and evolution.

Will explains the history of the site, from how it was formed by the ancient Laurentian fault line and how he found it in 1964.

Will explains the intricacies of the building site, geology, forest development, and water management.

Recent storms left hundreds of virgin White and Red Pines down for the taking.  Will has been collecting the lumber in 16′ lengths for the dining hall the students will design.
